Musicke in the Ayre

Locally-based early music specialists Musicke in the Ayre make a welcome return to Westbury Festival with a recital celebrating the 450th anniversary of the birth of one of the most important composers in the history of Western classical music, Claudio Monteverdi.

Monteverdi and his colleagues wrote wonderful music that brought in the Baroque. Musicke in the Ayre (soprano Jane Hunt and lutenist/luthier Din Ghani) will bring it magically to life in Stormore Chapel using just: the great acoustic there, Jane’s lovely voice, and the unique sound of period plucked strings (instruments made by Din just down the road).

Lutenist/luthier Din will play archlute and baroque lute  which were both made by him.

Teas will be available after the event.

The concert is being held by Stormore Baptist Church  to celebrate the  recent refurbishment of this charming little building.
