Drop in and Draw – session 2
Unfortunately, as a result of urgent repairs to the ceiling in the library, Westbury Museum has not been able to reopen as yet so this event will have to be rescheduled to later in the year. Contact Westbury Museum/Westbury Heritage for details: info@westburyheritagesociety.org.uk
Westbury Museum’s Hercules began life atop a large beam steam engine in Bitham Mill. When the mill closed in 1969, Jack Ingram, who was the maintenance engineer at Bitham Mill from 1936 and who had rescued him when the old beam engine was removed, took him home to live in Station Road, Westbury,
After Jack’s death Hercules moved to Chitterne and in 1992 Jack’s daughter donated him to the Westbury Museum. In 2017 Hercules was repaired in one of the first editions of the BBC’s Repair Shop.
Local artists are invited to come and draw, paint or sketch our magnificent statuette of Hercules. A professional artist will be available to offer guidance as needed. Limited materials provided or bring your own.
There are only 10 spaces available for each session so although the sessions are free, you must book a ticket.
