Gareth Bennett
A welcome return to the Little Lunch Music concerts for Gareth Bennett, who actually was one of the original organisers of this popular series of concerts. Gareth will entertain us with music on the beautiful Bevington organ.
Gareth has played the organ since he was five years old, when he sat on his aunt’s knee at the Methodist Chapel where she was organist at the time. He studied first at Hampton School, where he played the organ every day for assembly, and then at the University of Sussex, where he also played the Chapel organ for many important occasions.
Having spent 20 years working in IT, Gareth switched careers to become a professional musician, and studied in Liverpool under the tutelage of Noel Rawsthorne, the cathedral organist. Awarded a Music & Worship BA in 1989, Gareth has held positions at many major parish churches, including Horsham Parish Church, Amesbury Abbey Church and of course, All Saints Westbury. After a period as Music Minister at Christ Church URC, Chelmsford, he is now in semi-retirement(!) as Director of Music at the Deanery Church of St. Mary, Bocking, Essex.
